Cox Phone / Landline Outage
No dial tone or can’t make calls on your Cox home phone line? Here’s what to check first.
Try these first
- Check your cordless phone’s charging cradle — a dead handset battery is one of the most common causes and isn’t an outage at all.
- Try a corded phone plugged directly into the wall jack — this bypasses your cordless base station and modem, and quickly tells you whether the problem is your equipment or the line itself.
- Check your modem’s phone-line light (if it has one) — a solid or blinking phone icon usually means the line itself is registering fine.
- Power-cycle your modem — unplug for 30 seconds, plug back in, and wait a couple of minutes for it to fully reconnect.
If none of that helps, check the live map below to see if others in your area are also affected.
